Ezra Thomas Francis

Mr. Ezra Thomas Francis, 92, of South Boston, VA, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2018, at his home. He was born in Pittsylvania county on April 26, 1926, the son of the late Charlie Francis and Ala Owen Francis.

 

He was a member of First Baptist Church of South Boston and owner of Francis Jewelry and a certified watch repairman for over 50 years. He was a WWII Navy veteran and served on the USS Louisville. He received a Purple Heart and many other medals.

 

He was a 60-year veteran of the American Legion Post 8 and a charter member of the Southfax Sertoma Club.

 

Mr. Francis is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Francis, of the home, and four daughters, Donna Francis (Gary Noble) of Atco, NJ, Susan Francis of Richmond, VA, Caryl Moore (Tim) of Halifax, VA, and Mary Catherine Harrison (Ben) of Forest, VA, and six grandchildren: Thomas Moore (Sara), Chrystal Altendorf (Mark), Tracey Martinez (Justin), Chelsea Moore, Ann Frances Harrison and Sarah Lawson Harrison and one great grandchild, Levi Moore. Special nephews are Michael Francis and Charles L. Francis Jr. He has one surviving brother, Garnett Francis of Dry Fork, VA, and one sister, Barbara Rawlins of Danville, VA. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles L. Francis Sr.

 

Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Dave Anderson, Rev. Susan Davis, and Rev. Bob Ballance officiating with military honors to follow.

 

The family will receive friends at the home.
