Mrs. Ferne Gunter Edmonds of Halifax, VA passed away on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, NC. She was born in Beckley, WVA on June 17, 1922 and was 96 years old. She was the daughter of the late W. Virgil Gunter and Carrie Clay Gunter and was married to the late James Hurley “Skee” Edmonds. She was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church and was a beautician for over 75 years, 50 years devoted to her customers in the town of Halifax. Survivors include: One daughter Kathy Edmonds of Halifax One sister Geraldine G. Sigmund of Beckley, WVA Numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by two sisters, Zelma G. Easley and Genevieve G. Reed, and two brothers, Virgil Gunter and an infant brother. A graveside service will he held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Clover Bottom Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ridge Cullum officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
