Ione Saunders

Mrs. Pattie Ione “Doll” Jones Saunders of South Boston, VA went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born June 19, 1930 in Halifax County, VA and was 88 years old.   She was the daughter of the late Ocie Mitchell Jones and the late Pattie Sue Walker Jones and was married to the late James “Jimmy” Royal Saunders for 67 years.   She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church where she spent many years singing in the choir.  She was known as being a fantastic cook, a loving wife, mother and grandmother.   Mrs. Ione Jones Saunders is survived by: One Daughter-in-LawGayle Saunders of Smith Mountain Lake, VA Two GrandchildrenMatthew R. Saunders of Pittsburgh, PA One Great Granddaughter and her namesakeIone Saunders of Philadelphia, PA Her sister, Shirley Smith and husband Lindy of Doswell, VA ***Preceded in death by*** One Son, James Mitchell Saunders Four brothers, William Jones, Stover Jones, Franklin Jones and Mitchell Jones One sister, Elizabeth Jones   Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
