Shirley Jean Marander Beatty, aged 88 passed away peacefully during the early morning on Sunday, March 25th at Commonwealth Senior Living in Danville, Virginia. Mrs. Beatty was a long time resident of South Boston, Virginia. She is survived by her son Craig Beatty of Danville, her daughter Karen Beatty Wallis of Chantilly, Virginia, her daughter in law, Pam Davis Beatty of Danville, her son in law, Robert Wallis of Chantilly as well as her grandchildren Brian and Hailey Wallis of Chantilly. She is preceded in death by her husband Neal Beatty of South Boston and her two younger sisters Colleen Marander Langford and Bonnie Marander Cooper. Shirley was born in Seattle, Washington in 1929 to William and Leta Marander and married in 1951 in Redding, California. Shirley, Neal and Craig relocated to South Boston in 1960. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be fondly remembered for her vibrant and colorful personality, her compassion and love of her furry friends and her spontaneous and delightfully contagious sense of humor. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 515 Yancey Ave. in South Boston on April 14th at 2:00 followed by celebration of life reception in the parish hall.
