Charles William Johnson

Mr. Charles William “Chihuahua Man” Johnson of Halifax, VA passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.  He was born in Staten Island, NY on May 31, 1932 and was 85 years old.  He was the son of the late Harry R. Johnson and the late Edith Madakoski Johnson and was married to Rebecca Klages Johnson who survives.  He was a retired shop teacher in the Staten Island School System and was a member of the Jehovah Witness faith.  He was a breeder of Chihuahua dogs and was seen in the community with his buggy full of his Chihuahuas. Survivors include: His wife Rebecca Klages Johnson of Halifax Three daughters Karyn Johnson and husband Daniel Eanes of Halifax Bonnie Rosa of Chiro Valley, AZ Charlene Johnson of Staten Island, NY Three sons Darryl Johnson of Staten Island, NY Preston Johnson and wife Michelle of Staten Island, NY Russell Johnson of Utah One brother Donnie Johnson and wife Joyce of Melbourne, FL One sister Betty Ameneira of Staten Island, NY Twelve grandchildren Seven great grandchildren Also preceded in death by his first wife, Stella Johnson, one son, Colin Johnson, one daughter Cassandra Johnson and five brothers and sisters. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at the home of Karyn Johnson and Daniel Eanes, 2063 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA.
