Robert Edward Yancey

Mr. Robert Edward Yancey of Halifax, VA passed away on Friday, March 16,2018 at Centra Lynchburg Hospital. He was born in Mecklenburg County on December 31, 1933 and was 84 years old. He was the son of the late Edward Thomas Yancey and the late Ruth Evelyn Sizemore Yancey and was predeceased by his first wife Helen J. Crim Yancey and then by his second wife, Jayne Williams Yancey. He was a member of Revelation Baptist Church, was retired from Goodyear, and was a US Army Korean Era Veteran. Survivors include: His son Robert Blake Yancey of Halifax Three sisters Lillian Y. Hughes and husband Don of Orange, VA Evelyn Y. Brinkley and husband Bill of Florence, SC Linda Y. Hoblitz and husband Dennis of South Boston, VA Two brothers William Yancey and wife Donna of Powersville, SC Richard Yancey of Clarkesville, VA One sister-in-law Judy Yancey of South Hill, VA One brother-in-law Donald T. Williams and wife Lucy of Boydton, VA He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frederick Yancey A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dennis Hoblitz officiating. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Military Rites. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Monday evening from 7-8:30 PM.
