ARTHUR GLEN LAMBRECHT of Summerfield, NC, son of the late John and Edna (Knee) Lambrecht, passed away at home on March 9, 2018.  Family will receive friends on Friday, March 16, 2018 at Powell Funeral Home, 1603 Wilborn Ave, South Boston, VA 24592, from 5 PM until 7 PM. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 2 o’clock in the Summerfield United Methodist Church, 2334 Scalesville Rd, Summerfield, NC. There will be a reception following the service at the Church. There will be a graveside service held at a later date in South Boston, VA for both Art and Sally Lambrecht. Art was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Sally Lou Hollingshead Lambrecht.  Art is survived by his four sons: Kurt and wife, Amy; Charles and wife, Nan; Paul and wife Ginger; and Bruce and wife, Hilary. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and one great-grand child: Katie, Rachel, Jenny, David, Sam, Malcolm, Rosie, Charlie, Gena, Mollie, Sam, Isaac, and Jackson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Kjos, and is survived by his brother, Robert Lambrecht. Art was born November 17, 1930 in Sharon, PA. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1948 and received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Youngstown State University in 1952. He served in the Army Corp of Engineers in Europe from 1953 to 1955. He worked for Westinghouse Corp. almost his entire career in Pennsylvania and Virginia. Art was active in the Boy Scouts of America for over twenty years, as a parent volunteer, assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Troop Committee chairman and member, and District Commissioner. Art received his Wood Badge Beads and then the Silver Beaver award in 1980, the highest council adult volunteer award in Scouting. In addition, all four of Art’s sons and two of his grandsons earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank of Scouting. Art was also a Free and Accepted Mason and belonged to Kedron Lodge 389, West Middlesex, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Boy Scout Troop 497, Main Street United Methodist Church, 701 N Main St, South Boston, VA 24592. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff of Forever Young and Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro for their loving care of Art.
