Kenneth Leon "Sonny Boy" White

Mr. Kenneth Leon “Sonny Boy”White of Halifax, VA passed away on Saturday February 17th 2018.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on March 23rd, 1936 and was 81 years old. He was the son of the late Richard Edward White and the late Fannie Newton White and was married to Catherine Waskey White. He was a US Army Veteran and served in the National Guard for six years.  He was a retired foreman from Georgia Pacific.  He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and attended Black Walnut Baptist Church.   Survivors include: His wife Catherine W. “Kitty” White of Halifax Two sons Kenneth Edward “Kenny” White wife Tracey of Alton Kevin Scott White of Halifax Four grandchildren Kenneth “Trey” White and wife Courtney and son Kenneth “Kip” of South Boston Kelsey W. Crews and husband Shannon and son Karter of Nathalie Kamra and Kylie White of Scottsburg Two nieces Donna W. Daniel of Halifax  and Dianna W. Tiller of South Boston Extended family Brenda Weatherford, Ruby Newton, Janet Fisher, and  Lynn Chaplin  His was preceded in death by a brother, Donald M. White   A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Military Rites. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday for an hour and a half prior to the service starting at 12:30 PM.
