Jackie Allen Chappell

Mr. Jackie Allen Chappell of Vernon Hill, VA passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Duke University Hospital.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on June 26, 1941 and was 76 years old.  He was the son of the late Robert Woodson Chappell and Nannie Rutledge Chappell McKinney and was married to Nancy Richie Chappell who survives.  He was a member and Elder at Oak Level Presbyterian Church and also was a life member of the Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include: His wife Nancy Richie Chappell of Vernon Hill Two daughters Becky C. Lewis (Ricky) of Vernon Hill Rhonda C. Hunt (Luke) of Vernon Hill One sister Ann C. Horton of Halifax One brother Roderick “Pete” Chappell (Nannie Sue) of Halifax Two grandchildren Garland Comer (Brittany) of Vernon Hill Mandy Lee Lewis of Vernon Hill Two great grandchildren Paisley Comer and Tinley Comer ***Preceded in death by*** One BrotherRobert Woodson Chappell Jr. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeff Kisner, Rev. Dr. Ed Melvin, and Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
