Carolyn Moorefield Shelton

Ms. Carolyn Lovelace Moorefield Shelton of Halifax, VA passed away peacefully Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Rex Healthcare in Raleigh, NC. following a courageous two year battle with cancer.   She was born in Halifax County, VA on May 24, 1941 and was 76 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Hampton Younger Moorefield and the late Lelia Cole Moorefield.     She was a member of the Halifax Presbyterian Church.  Carolyn graduated from Halifax County High School and attended Marion College.  She loved to play golf, bridge and spending time at the beach. She was the former owner of Carolyn’s Jewelry before she retired and then found a new home with Lowe’s Home Improvement. She was a devoted and loving mother, mother-in-law and grandmother and a cherished friend to many.   Ms. Carolyn Shelton is survived by: One DaughterElizabeth “Betsy” Payne Shelton Eller and husband Brent of Raleigh, NC Two GrandchildrenBrent Payne and John Benton Eller of Raleigh, NC Her beloved cat Mo and Colt her loving great-grand-dog Her sister-cousin, Jean Moorefield Brent’s mother, Helen and brother Biff (Katrina), sons Sam and George   Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home on Saturday, January 20, 2018.   For memorials please consider the Halifax County Humane Society, P.O.
