Mr. Cabell Walton “Honeycake” Daniel of Halifax, VA passed away on January 1, 2018 at his residence, at the age of 77. He was born in Halifax County on October 12, 1940 to the late William Keister Daniel, Sr. and the late Nannie Walton Daniel. He was married to Kathleen Edmonds Daniel. Cabell professed Christ at an early age. He joined and was baptized at New Bethel Baptist Church. Later he became a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Halifax where he served as a Senior Warden for many years. In 2010 Cabell joined Grace Baptist Church and was a faithful member until his health declined. During his profession, Cabell was employed as an accountant in Washington DC, as well as an employee of Halifax County Public School system. He also owned and operated Dan and Francis Limousine Service and Corner’s Produce Market in Halifax. Mr. Cabell Daniel served as a member of Halifax Town Council, former Planning Commissioner, Vice Mayor and Councilman of Halifax County. He had a great love for horses and was a member of the Saddle Breed Club in Halifax. Cabell and his family were great supporters of the Girl Scouts Organization. Cabell was educated in the Halifax County Public School System; He attended North Carolina A&T State University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. In addition to his wife Kathleen, Mr. Cabell Walton Daniel is survived by: devoted cousins, Judith W. Hayes and Rhonda W. Herndon (Barry), both of Danville, VA; sister-in-law Willie Daniel of Halifax, VA. Nieces Venus, Myra, and Karen; nephew John. Father and Mother-in-law, Pastor Branford Edmonds and Joanna Edmonds of Halifax, VA; seven brothers-in-law and five sisters-in-law, uncles Clifton Daniel (Frances) and John Daniel both of Halifax, VA. Children Sugar, Ringo, and Shorty. A beloved church family and a host of other relatives and friends. Cabell was preceded in death by his late wife Frances M. Daniel; brother Keister Daniel Sr.; sister, Norma D. Young and Charlie. Funeral services for Mr. Cabell Walton Daniel will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. Burial to follow in Halifax Memorial Garden. Public viewing will be Friday, January 5 from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and Saturday, January 6, at Grace Baptist Church from 10:00 until 10:45 A.M.
