It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Mozelle H. Vanney, a longtime resident of South Boston, Virginia. She passed away on Wednesday, November 8 at Commonwealth Senior Living. Mrs. Vanney was born in 1922 in Liberty, Virginia, and was 95 years old at the time of her passing. She loved spending time with family and friends, playing cards, and cooking. She spent much of her life caring for others at South Boston Hospital and Seasons at the Woodview assisted living facility in South Boston, VA. She is survived by her two children, William F. Vanney, of Sun Lakes, Arizona and Thomas Michael Vanney, of South Boston, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jim (Donna) Vanney of Florence, AZ, Kristi (Tony) Brown of Noblesville, IN, and Greg (Amy) Vanney of Toronto, Canada, Kathryn (Brandon) Owens of Richmond, Virginia; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Vanney, father, Frank L Hudson, mother, Annie C. Hudson, sister and husband, Mildred (Roy) Hudson, brothers and wives, Kenneth ( Mary Katherine) Hudson and William (Sylvia) Hudson. She was also preceded in death by her daughters-in-law, Jeanette F. Vanney and Judith L. Vanney; and grandson, Michael J. Vanney. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. With great love and sadness, we will keep you close to our hearts always. There will be a Graveside Service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Dr. Bob Ballance officiating.
