Kenneth Rex Puryear

Mr. Kenneth Rex Puryear of South Boston, VA passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his home. He was born in South Boston on August 23, 1956 and was 61 years old.  He was the son of the late Edward Bruce Puryear and the late Shirley Conner Puryear.  Rex was a graduate of Halifax County high School where he excelled in many sports. He was a member of the 1968 South Boston Dixie Youth All Star team that won the State Title and went to the World Series in Bartow, Fl. Survivors include: Two sisters Martha "Moncho"? Puryear Shotwell of South Boston Michelle "Spud"? Puryear Estes and husband Michael of Danville One brother Edward Michael "Mickey"? Puryear and wife Anne of South Boston Two special aunts Clara "Bonnie"? Conner of South Boston Shirley Whitt Conner of South Boston Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins He was also preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Lynn Puryear A graveside service will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Halifax Memorial Gardens with Rev. Clinton McKinney officiating.  A reception will follow at the home of Mickey and Anne Puryear, 2901 North Main Street, South Boston. At other times, the family will receive friends at his home, 3146 Dan River Church Road, South Boston.
