Danet Powell Irby

Mrs. Danet Powell Irby of Roxboro, NC and formerly of Halifax County, VA passed away on August 5, 2017 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC. She was born in Halifax County on August 10, 1948 and was 68 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Calvin Coolidge Powell and Sallie Hazelwood Powell and was married to the late Wayne Marlin "Red" Irby.  She was a member of the Roxboro Church of God and was a former Assistant manager of Hardees in South Boston. Survivors include: One son Donald Brown and wife Teresa of Alton One daughter Tammy F. Jones and husband Simon of South Boston Her mother Sallie Hazelwood Powell of Wake Forest, NC Two step daughters Shawnee I. Francis of South Boston Renee I. Hopkins Walker and husband Joe of Zebulon, NC One stepson Jeffrey "Scottie"? Fallen and wife Cynthia of Richmond Two sisters Vickie P. Harp and husband Rodney of Wake Forest, NC Lupino P. Wesley and husband Curtis of Roxboro, NC Three brothers Calvin D. Powell of Roxboro, NC Ronald G. Powell of Roxboro, NC Gary Dean Powell and wife Debra of Roxboro, NC Special friend Jeff Stewart and family Nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, and seventeen great grandchildren A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the South Boston Church of God with Bishop Rodney Harp, Bishop Curtis Wesley, Bishop J. Harold Palmer, and Bishop T. Wayne Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the South Boston Church on Tuesday evening from 7-9:00 PM and other times at the home Tammy and Simon Jones, 115 Wood Court, South Boston.
