Mary Archer Booker Osborne died peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital from complications of pneumonia. She had resided at Commonwealth Senior Living for the past several years. Daughter of Katherine D. H. Booker and Frank E. Booker, Jr. she was born on September 11, 1950, in Danville, VA and grew up in Halifax, Virginia. She attended Halifax County High School and Fairfax Hall and continued her education at Southern Seminary College where with her beautiful soprano voice, pursued music and was awarded the college Music Prize. She continued to have a love of music throughout her life, singing with the community chorus, in the choir at St. John's Episcopal Church, and performing in Little Theatre productions. She was a member of the Society of the Colonial Dames of American in the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Halifax Womans Club, and lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Mary Archer will be remembered for her good sense of humor, bright smile, good sense of style, kindness and special love of her son Cabell. He was born with cerebral palsy, but with her encouragement and support, Cabell graduated from college and went on to live a productive life. She and her husband were so very proud of him. She was predeceased by her husband, Dennis K. Osborne and son P. Cabell Osborne. She is survived by a sister, Katherine H. Booker of Halifax, and a brother, Frank E. Booker, III of St. Simons Island, Georgia. A funeral will be held on Thursday, July 27, at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Episcopal Church, with interment in the church cemetery immediately following the service.
