Louise Powell Hawkins

Mrs. Louise Powell Hawkins of Lynchburg, VA formerly of Halifax County, VA passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Lynchburg General Hospital.  She was born October 25, 1923 in Halifax County, VA and was 93 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Powell and the late Annie Smith Powell and was married to the late Bennie B. Hawkins.   She was a member of the Dan River Baptist Church, was a volunteer with Good Samaritan, and worked for the Virginia Telephone and Telegraph Company.   Mrs. Louise Powell Hawkins, Jr. is survived by: One Sister Jeanette Powell Newton of South Boston A number of nieces and nephews Preceded in death by seven sisters, Mae McKinney, Elizabeth Powell, Fannie Childrey, Lorene Hatcher, Gracie Burke, and Pauline Nelson and three brothers, Lester Powell, Hagood Powell, and Edward Powell   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the Dan River Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Gibson officiating.
