Mervin Cecil Martin

Mr. Mervin Cecil Martin, Sr. of South Boston, VA passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 at the Chase City Health and Rehab.  He was born January 18, 1943 in Clover, VA and was 74 years old.  He was the son of the late John Clem Martin and the late Louise Powell Martin and was married to Gloria Ann Martin, who survives.   He was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church, retired from V.D.O.T. and was U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. He also was a member of American Legion Post 8.   Mr. Mervin Cecil Martin, Sr. is survived by: His Wife Gloria Ann Wilborn Martin of South Boston One Daughter Theresa Thompson and husband Chad of Smithfield, NC Two Sons Mervin Cecil Martin, Jr. and girlfriend Carrie of Suffolk, VA Dwayne Anthony Martin and wife Casey of South Boston Five Grandchildren Haley Cross, Lexi Martin, Wyatt Martin, Justin Martin and Samuel Martin Two Great Grandchildren Aniyah and Serenity Three Sisters Rosetta Griffin of Randolph, VA Geraldine Virginia Martin of Lynchburg, VA Janie Crowe and husband Bobby of Chase City, VA   ***Preceded in Death by*** Siblings John Anderson Martin Raleigh Martin Julian Martin Juanita Russell Lois Pruitt Lewis Henry Martin   Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Bryant officiating.  Military honors will be presented at Powell Funeral Home.  Private burial will be held at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.   The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.      For memorials please consider a charity of your choice.
