Dorothy Averett Bagby

Mrs. Dorothy Averett  Bagby, formerly of Nelson, VA passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Sentara Woodview.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on July 20, 1931 and was 85 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Walter Averett and Sulene  Vaughan Averett and was married to the late Joe Cephus Bagby.  She was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist Church and was a former fabric inspector with Burlington Industries. Survivors include:                                                                                                                                       Two granddaughters Melissa Anderson and husband Thomas of Nelson Samantha Nelson of Halifax Two great grandchildren Christopher Lucy and Allie Lucy, both of Nelson One brother Thomas Averett of Lewisburg, NC She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Vicky Bagby Nelson A memorial service will be held at Florence Avenue Baptist Church on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Billy Coghill and Rev. Troy Russ officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Florence Avenue Baptist Church on Friday for one hour prior to the service at 2.
