Marjorie Yancey Murphy

Mrs. Marjorie Yancey Murphy of South Boston, VA passed away peacefully at her home on March 26, 2017.  She was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on July 21, 1923 and was 93 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Everette Aminious Yancey and the late Kathryn Jones Yancey. She was married to the late Charles Irvin Murphy.   She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was active in the tape ministry and assisted with the nursery.  She was deeply dedicated to her family and friends where she was  affectionately known as “Gargie”.   Mrs. Marjorie Yancey Murphy is survived by: Two Daughters Marsha M. Young and husband Sid of Halifax, VA Donna Murphy of South Boston, VA Two Grandchildren Kathryn Brooke Young Wilkerson and husband Joseph of South Boston, VA Morgan Elizabeth Young of Greensville, SC Two Great Grandchildren Kathryn Bailey Wilkerson and Talley Elizabeth Wilkerson of South Boston, VA One Sister Norma Henderson of South Boston, VA   ***Preceded in death by*** Two Sisters Mary Y. Wilkins Myrle Maxine Yancey   Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Balance officiating.
