William Herbert Smith, Jr.

Mr. William Herbert Smith, Jr. of Halifax, VA passed away March 12, 2017.  He was born in Brunswick County, VA on September 18, 1949 and was 67 years of age. He was the son of the late William Herbert Smith, Sr. and the late Nellie Whitby Smith. He was married to Sandra Saseen-Smith who survives. He was a member of St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church.  He was former Vice President of the National Defender Investigator Association, was a member of Knights of Columbus, served in the Army National Guard and served on the Halifax Planning Commission.   Mr. William Herbert Smith, Jr. is survived by: His Wife Sandra Saseen-Smith of the home One Son Matthew Warren Smith and wife Holly of South Hill, VA Two Grandchildren Hannah Smith of Crewe, VA Collin Smith of South Hill, VA One Step-granddaughter Allyson Allgood of South Hill One Brother Jerry Smith of Lawrenceville, VA One Sister Brenda Smith Lewis and husband David of Brodnax, VA   Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church with the Father Eduard Ntunde officiating. Burial to follow at Matthews Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1538 Matthews Chapel Road, Lawrenceville, VA at 3:30 P.M.   The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 7:00 P.M. until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home.   For memorials please consider Halifax County Cancer Association, P.O.
