Myrtle Borum Bradley

Myrtle B. Bradley, 96, of Nathalie, VA died on February 18 at the Williams Home in Lynchburg, VA. She was born on November 12, 1920 to Joseph Witt and Sallie Farley Borum. She graduated from Longwood College and moved to Halifax County to teach. She taught at Ellis Creek, Cluster Springs, Acorn, Catawba and Rosa Schools in Halifax County. After Rosa closed she taught at Brookneal Elementary in Campbell County until her retirement. She was very active in Catawba Baptist Church for many years. In her later years she enjoyed volunteering the Halifax Regional Hospital.   She was married to Thomas E. (Ned) Bradley until his death in 1992. She was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Betty B. Bennett and son-in-law J. Leigh Bennett. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Louise B. Tune, Virginia B. Chenault, and Ann B. Reames and her brothers W. Witt Borum, J. M. (Buster) Borum and R. Harvey Borum.   She is survived by a daughter, Peggy B. Urquhart (Wiley) of Lynchburg, Va and 2 granddaughters Wendy B. Turpin (Tommy) of Crewe, VA and Nicole B. Hedrick of Gretna, VA. and 6 Great-grandchildren Adam, Tyler, Jaycee, Leland, Dixie and JJ, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by step-grandchildren, Naomi U. Turgeon of Imperial, CA and Jim Urquhart of Azusa, CA., six step-great-grandchildren Angela, Renee, Josh, Zachary (Miranda), Sarah and Rebecca, and three step-great-great grandchildren, Elijah, Isaiah, and Penelope. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 21 at 12:00 PM at Catawba Baptist Church with Rev. Michael O'Shea and Rev.LeRoy Davis conducting the service.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service The family would like to thank the staff of the Williams Home for the excellent loving care you gave her the entire six years she lived there and especially the last month of her life. She considered residents and staff to be her extended family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Catawba Baptist Church, 1060 Volens Road, Nathalie, VA
