Mr. Clarence William “Bill” Dawson Sr. of Nathalie, VA passed away February 17, 2017 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Pittsylvania County on March 7, 1924 and was 92 years old. He was the son of the late Edward Binford Dawson and Lizzie Izella Francis Dawson. He is survived by Margaret Gilliland Dawson.He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Republican Grove where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and choir director. He was a WWII Army Veteran where he served in the 661st Tank Destroyer Battalion under General Omar Bradley. He was also a member of Hubbard Masonic Lodge AF&AM. Mr. Bill Dawson is survived by: His Wife Margaret G. Dawson of Nathalie Three daughters Linda D. Puccio and husband Vincent of Martinsville Jackie D. Yesalavich and husband Joseph of Nathalie Jane D. Keel and husband Wiley of Mechanicsville One Son C.W. Dawson Jr. of Nathalie One sister Mary Ann Throckmorton of South Boston Two brothers Wayne “Joe” Dawson of Alton Warren Pulliam and wife Pat of Halifax Eight Grandchildren Nine Great Grandchildren Host of nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by one grandson, David Yesalavich, one daughter-in-law, Debbie E. Dawson, one great grandson, Colin Hudson, sisters, Margaret, Katherine, Helen, and Virginia, and brothers, Robert, Melvin, E.B., Maynard, and James. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove with the Rev. Shelton Miles and Rev. LeRoy Davis officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery with Military and Masonic rites. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove..
