William Tulloh Anderson, 89 , passed away at Woodview Nursing Home on January 1, 2017 after an extended illness. He was born February 9, 1927 in South Boston, Virginia to the late Willie Green Anderson and Mary Anderson Canada. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Chandler Anderson and one son, John Andrew Anderson. Survivors are his sons William Tulloh Anderson, Jr of Raleigh, North Carolina and Edward Rawley Anderson of Apex, North Carolina; one grandchild, Anne Rogers and one great-grandchild, Lane Rogers, both of Garner, North Carolina, and one brother, Warren G. (Bill) Anderson of High Point, North Carolina. Special recognition and thanks to Bertha Banks, his caregiver, for her devotion and loving care. She was a special person to him during his illness. Tulloh was educated in the public schools of South Boston, graduating from C. H. Friend High School in 1943. He began working in the tobacco industry at age 15 and this became his life's work. He was blessed with a very bright mind and strong work ethic. He loved working in the tobacco business and was continually given more responsibility. He retired as Vice President of Adams Tobacco Company in Oxford, NC. Moving back to South Boston in 1992, Tulloh rejoined First Baptist Church where he was baptized as a child. He became an active member, teaching the Lacy Bible Class and singing in the choir as well as serving on several committees. Tulloh was a great sports fan. While living in Raleigh, he was a member of the North Carolina State Wolfpack Club. After moving to South Boston, he continued attending all the State basketball and football games. Golf was also a game he enjoyed in his retirement, especially when he played with some of his lifelong friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 5 at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
