Florine Yancey Roark

Mrs. Florine Yancey Roark of South Boston, VA passed away on December 25, 2016 at Sentara Woodview.  She was born in Halifax County, VA on November 19, 1931 and was 85 years old. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Edward “Pete” Yancey and Susie Conner Yancey and was married to the late Wilmer Ryland Roark Jr.  She was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. Survivors include: One daughter Susan C. Shrewsberry and husband Thomas of Hardy, VA One son Jerry Michael Daniel and wife Donna of Halifax One sister Shirley Y. Puryear of South Boston Five grandchildren Lloyd “Doc” Clark Jr., Jeremy Clark, Jami Hunt, Melissa Barrett, and Kim Shrewsberry. Five great grandchildren She was preceded in death by one grandson, TJ Shrewsberry and one brother, James Flournoy Yancey. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 11:oo AM at  Black Walnut Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Hunt and Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Black Walnut Baptist Church for one hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Mike and Donna Daniel, 1048 Highland Hills Drive, Halifax.
