James Richard Hicks

Mr. James Richard “Ricky” Hicks, Sr. of South Boston, VA passed away December 20, 2016.  He was born in Halifax County, VA on September 8, 1953 and was 63 years of age. He was the son of the late John Richard Hicks and the late Frances Long Hicks. He was married to Jerrie Beverley Hicks who survives.   He was a member of First Crossroads Baptist Church. He was the Fire chief of Turbeville Volunteer Fire Department of which he was a member of 48 years.     Mr. Ricky Hicks, Sr. is survived by: His Wife Jerrie Beverley Hicks of the home One Daughter Beverley Hicks Elliott and husband Rodney of South Boston, VA One Son James Richard Hicks, Jr. of South Boston, VA and girlfriend Casey Creech One Sister Carole Hager and husband Rick of Smyrna, GA Special Grandson Kyle Elliott Number of loving Nieces and Nephews   ***Also Preceded in Death*** One Brother Philip Earl Hicks   Memorial service will be held Friday, December 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.at South Boston Fire Department Support Center, 801 Wilborn Ave., South Boston with the Rev. Preston Medley, Rev. Greg Smith and Rev. Dan Ward officiating. Burial to follow in First Crossroads Baptist Church.   The family will receive friends Thursday, December 22, 2016 from 7:00 until 9:00 P.m. at the South Boston Fire Department Support Center and other times at his home of 2243 J.D.
