Bertha Smith Terry

Mrs. Bertha Smith Terry of South Boston, VA passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County September 25, 1932 and was 84 years old.  She was the daughter of the late Thomas Edward Smith and Martha Martin Smith and was married to the late James Singleton Terry.  She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and was retired from Burlington industries. Survivors include: Four grandsons Bobby Terry Jr. and wife Dawn of South Boston David Terry and wife Theresa of Henderson, NC Mitch Terry of South Boston Charles Terry of Cluster Springs One step grandson DW Martin and wife Desiree of Roxboro, NC Seven sisters Edith Allen of Aylett, VA Martha Thompson and husband Joe of Rocky Mount, NC Doris Butler of South Boston Betty Sneed of Halifax Deborah Rudder of South Boston Virginia Roberts and husband Roy of Cluster Springs Nancy McVicker of Apopka, FL One brother Kenneth Smith of Scottsburg Three great granddaughters Number of nieces and nephews She was also preceded in death by two sons, James “Peewee” Terry and Bobby Terry Sr. and two brothers, Henry “Dickie” Smith and Melvin Thomas Smith A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church for 1 hour prior to the service and other times at the home of Doris Butler, 1089 Dogwood Trail, South Boston.
