Randy Douglas Thomas

Mr. Randy Douglas Thomas of Vernon Hill, VA passed away Friday, October 7, 2016 at his home.  He was born in Halifax County on October 27, 1954 and was 61 years old.  He was the son of the late Robert Leslie Thomas and Edith Hazelwood Thomas and was married to Patsy Womack Thomas.  He was a retired Senior Corrections Officer with The Virginia Department of Corrections and attended Centerville Baptist Church. Survivors include: His wife Patsy Womack Puryear Thomas of Vernon Hill One son Frankie Lee Puryear of Vernon Hill One grandson Dylan Matthew Puryear of Vernon Hill Two sisters Tammy T. Daniel and husband Eddie of Alton Rhonda T. Powell and husband Steve of South Boston Two brothers Robert L. Thomas Jr. and wife Carolyn of Fisherville Averett V. Thomas and wife Dawn of Archdale, NC He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, William “Bud” Womack A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd McClure and Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Womack Family Cemetery at Vernon Hill. A visitation will be held Sunday evening from 7-8:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home. For memorials, please consider the Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department.
