Frank Ewing Scudder, Sr., 99, of Owensboro, formerly of Washington, D.C., passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016. He was born November 19, 1916 in Kenmare, North Dakota to the late Jacob Frank and Florence June Surratt Scudder. He was raised in Indiana and graduated from Purdue University. He served 4 years in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theater aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Luce as a Lieutenant J.G. and was a survivor of a Kamikaze attack in the East China Sea, west of Okinawa. He attended Western Presbyterian Church in Washington, D.C. and was a retired teacher from the Career Academy in Washington. He also is preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Surviving is his wife of 44 years, Hilda Osborne Scudder; children, Marie Perkins of Hopkinsville, KY, Dr. Frank Scudder, Jr. (Judy) of The Villages, FL, Louise Brown (Howard) and Ellen Franklin, both of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Graveside service with Military Rites will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2:30 P.M. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Don Bryant officiating.
