Dorothy Oulds Talley

Mrs. Dorothy Oulds Talley of Scottsburg, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 22, 2016. She was born in Halifax, VA on March 10, 1926 and was 90 years of age. She was the daughter of the late William and the late Ella Womack Oulds and was married to the late Cookey “Bill” Talley, Jr. Mrs. Dorothy Talley was a devoted and committed wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being outdoors working in her garden, planting flowers, and riding the Snapper Lawnmower. Her family and friends enjoyed many “goodies” from her kitchen. Mrs. Talley was a faithful member of Clover Baptist Church and served on numerous committees. She was diligent to visit the shut-ins and nursing homes on Sunday afternoons. Not only did Mrs. Talley work hard on the farm but for many years, she was employed by Craddock-Terry Shoe Factory and Tultex. Mrs. Talley is survived by one son, Pete Talley of Scottsburg, VA, one daughter, Pat Talley of Halifax, VA, ; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Talley of Halifax, VA, Vince Talley and wife, Kelly of Clinton, NC,; four Great grandchildren, Laney and Brycen Talley, Maggie and Gracie Honeycutt of Clinton, NC. She was also a grandma to Caleb Talbott. Mrs. Talley is also survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Jeannie Guill of Clover, VA, one brother-in-law, Ralph Cole of Cluster Springs, VA, one niece-in-law, Ida Mae King and husband Henry of Cluster Springs, VA In addition to her parents, husband and sister (Eva Cole), one son, Ronnie Edwin Talley preceded her in death. Mrs. Talley also leaves behind three of the most compassionate caregivers and friends: Mary Decker, Brandee Hancock and Maggie Warren. Funeral service will be held at Clover Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 with Rev. Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial to follow in Clover Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M., and other times at 3058 Hundley Road, Scottsburg, VA In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Clover Baptist Church, P.O.
