Jean Ferrell Goodman

Mrs. Jean Ferrell Goodman of the Oak Level community passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in the Oak Level Community of Halifax County on November 15, 1934 and was 81 years old. She was the daughter of the late Roland Preston Ferrell and Wilsie Ingram Ferrell who survives and was married to Allen Conway Goodman. Mrs. Goodman was a Member, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member of the Oak Level Presbyterian Church. She also was a twelve time President of the Wilson Memorial Ruritan Club and was twice Zone Governor of the Dan River Ruritan District. She taught school in the Danville Public School System for 32 years, her last years as a home economics teacher at Bonner Middle School. Survivors include: Her husband Allen Conway Goodman of Oak Level Her mother Wilsie Ingram Ferrell of Oak Level Her Uncle and Aunt Ned and Lurlene Ingram of South Boston Young man raised as a son Jake Newcomb Cousins Carol Stromberg, Jennifer Amster, William Starkey, Randy Ingram, Vickie Cliborne, Faye Hankins, Lynn Hall, Tina Powell, and Kim Shelton A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 3:00 PM at Oak Level Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Nance and Rev. Bill Wilkins conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and other times at her home. Those wishing to give memorials should consider the Oak Level Presbyterian Church or the Oak Level Volunteer Fire Department.
