Mr. Nelson Lacy Crews of Clover, VA passed away on Friday, July 22, 2016 at his home. He was born in Halifax County on August 10, 1932 and was 83 years old. He was the son of the late Alonza Merritt Crews Sr. and Grace Rickmon Crews and was married for 61 years to Marguerite Anderson Crews. He was an active member of the Mt. Laurel United Methodist Church and was a former owner/operator of Home Appliance Company in South Boston. He was also a Veteran of the US Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include: His wife of 61 years Marguerite Anderson Crews of Clover One daughter Susan Crews Daniels and husband Tim of Richmond One son Michael Kent Crews and wife Brenda of Carrollton Two brothers Bailey Crews and wife Frances of Scottsburg Wayne Crews and wife Ann of Chester Two grandchildren Joseph Crews and wife Anna of Smithfield Jacob Crews and fiance Emily Marshall of Hampton One great grandchild Lucy Grace Crews He was preceded in death by one sister, Bernice C. Long and by one brother, A.M. Crews Jr. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Mt. Laurel United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM with Rev. Don Pizzeck and Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Sunday evening from 7-8:30 PM and other times at his home.
