Madelyn “Maddie” Jackson crossed into eternity on Sunday, July 10, 2016. Maddie was born on March 21, 1996 in Halifax County and was 20 years old. She bravely battled an almost nine month battle against all odds following a car crash in October of 2015. She leaves behind her mama, Tammy Lacks Moore as well as her siblings, BJ (Scarlett) Moore, Brad (Casey) Moore, Michael & Kinsley Jones, and Zack and Cassidy Jackson. Her grandparents, Wayne & Sheila Lacks are left behind as well. She also leaves behind her niece, Olivia Moore. Also left to grieve are her Dada, Brian Jones and Step-mom, Amanda Jones. Also her uncle Doug (Kendra) Lacks as well as Grandaddy Owen (Arlene) Wade.Maddie was preceded in death by her loving mama, Bobbie Wade Jackson. Maddie was loved by so many in the community, it’s impossible to name everyone however, two devoted friends must be ,mentioned, Katie Snead who spent countless years with Maddie and then countless hours at the hospital by her bedside, and also Brittney Brumfield who was a friend from college and volleyball, and a fast and quick very close friendship developed. Brittney and her mom, Belinda have worked tireless hours in fundraising efforts in supporting Maddie and the entire family. Throughout Maddie’s time as a Halifax County Comet, she played tennis and volleyball. She was a member of the Helping Hands group in high school as well as HOSA. She earned her CNA certification in high school and was pursuing a nursing degree at Danville Community College. She was employed full time at Danville Regional Medical Center as a CNA. Maddie’s memorial service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church located at 4198 Bethel Road, Scottsburg, VA Sunday, July 17 at 2:00. This memorial service will be a celebration of Maddie’s life and will not be a traditional service in staying true to Maddie’s character. Everyone is encouraged to wear either MaddiesStrong tee shirts, Comets tee shirts, DCC tee shirts or any sports tee shirt you have. Jeans are encouraged. One hour prior to the service, there will be a selection of Maddie’s favorite music playing. There will be items displayed that embody Maddie’s spirit. There will be a book available for everyone to write a favorite memory of Maddie. If you like, you can write it ahead of time and place it in the binder when you arrive.
