David Mitchell “Mickey” Fore of South Boston, VA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born on January 17, 1964 in Halifax County, VA, and was 52 years old. David was the son of the late Carlton Bernard Fore and Jean Moorefield Fore. David graduated from Halifax County High School in 1988, and was a member of First Baptist Church. David, or “Mickey” as many knew him, was a kind, gentle soul who brought a smile to many faces. He enjoyed making people laugh, often borrowing jokes from his favorite comedians, The Three Stooges. David was a lover of animals and nature, who enjoyed spending as much time as possible fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He loved every holiday, and looked forward to decorating the house and planning celebrations with family and friends. David will be most remembered for his bright, outgoing personality. Meeting people and making new friends was a huge part of his life. Once he made a friend, they were a friend for life in his eyes. He touched many lives and always left those he met feeling better for having been a part of his life. David was a lifelong Christian, who believed in the power of prayer. He spent much of his time praying for family, friends, and those who were in need. His faith in God and positive outlook on life was an inspiration to his family, and taught us all to see the importance of the simple, beautiful things in life. David Fore is survived by: Two sisters: Betty Carlton Fore of South Boston, VA, and Kathy Ann Gibbs of Danville, VA; two nieces: Andrea Jean Carlton Zito and husband David Paul Zito of Arlington, VA, and Brook Sharp of Indiana; caregivers and close friends: Louise Williams, Karen Acree, and Rhonda Anderson; and numerous cousins and family members. David was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He was also preceded in death by his girlfriend, “the love of his life,” Mary Jane Gill. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in South Boston with the Rev. Dave Anderson and Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery following the service. David would have wanted his funeral to be a celebration of his life. If you plan to attend, feel free to wear bright colors, especially his favorite, yellow, in lieu of traditional darker clothing. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 1 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Powell Funeral Home in South Boston. A reception will be held at First Baptist Church following the burial.
