Thurman Forrest Perkins.Sr.

Mr. Thurman Forrest Perkins, Sr. of Halifax passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016.  He was born in Halifax County on January 6, 1935 and was 81 years old. He was the son of the late Joseph Perkins and the late Mamie Lee Simmons Perkins. He was also married to Connie Snead Perkins who survives. He was a member of Union United Methodist Church.  He retired as Chief of Police for the Town of Halifax, former owner of Mountain Road Diner and worked at Burlington Industries as a technician. Mr. Thurman Forrest Perkins, Sr. is survived by: His Wife Connie Snead Perkins of the home One Daughter Tammy C. Hudson of South Boston, VA One Son Thurman F. Perkins, Jr. of Buffalo Junction, VA Three Grandchildren Kelly Hudson of South Boston, VA Destiney Perkins and Grayson Perkins of Buffalo Junction, VA One Step-Daughter Connie Lynn Barksdale of Halifax, VA Two Step Grandchildren Ashley and Brittany Barksdale of Halifax, VA   ***Preceded in death by*** His Parents Joseph and Mamie Lee Simmons Perkins   Graveside service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Union United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Aubrey Heath officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home of 1110 Billy’s Lane, Halifax, VA.
