Oscar James Smith

Mr. Oscar James Smith passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016, AT Sentara Woodview. He was born in Halifax, VA on January 19, 1931 and was 85 years old. He was the son of the late John William Smith and the late Evelyn Carlton Smith. He was also married to the late Bettie Weatherford Smith.   He was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran.   Mr. Oscar James Smith is survived by: Three Sons Andre Smith of Roxboro, NC Anthony Smith of Roxboro, NC Kevin Smith and wife Peggy of Boston, MA One Stepson Larry Anderson and wife Faye of South Boston, VA One Stepdaughter Lois A. Puckett of Nathalie, VA Two Sisters Nancy S. Haskins and husband Charles of Halifax, VA Doris Tuck of Roxboro, NC Four Brothers Raymond Smith and wife Louise of Roxboro, NC Howard Smith of Roxboro, NC Richard Smith and wife Becky of South Boston, VA Charlie Robert Smith and wife Mary of Halifax, VA Four Grandchildren Harley Smith of Roxboro, NC Allen Puckett George Anderson and wife Elizabeth of Asheville, NC Melissa Loftis and husband Chad of Virgilina, VA Seven Great Grandchildren Host of Nieces and Nephews   ***Preceded in death by*** His ParentsJohn William and Evelyn Carlton Smith His Wife Bettie Weatherford Smith   Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Brown and Rev. Pat Nielson officiating.
