Mary Ann Pool

Mary Ann Pool, age 68 of Halifax County passed away peacefully March 4, 2016, at her home. Lovingly known for her outreach to others, she used her BS in Art from Radford College in numerous ways to help others and to instill her love of art so others might find beauty in their daily lives and an insight into the human endeavor.  She worked at the Sheltered Workshop for several years before substituting at Halifax High and Washington Coleman. She also taught at Gretna High School and the American School of Paris before returning to Halifax County where she taught art at Halifax County Middle School for about 20 years before retiring. She is survived by her cousins Jean Hardie Rickman, Nick Hardie, Thomas Ray Hardie, Howard Christopher King, and Chinkie King Taussig, their families, and her numerous friends. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 2:00P.M. at Powell funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Pizzeck officiating.  Burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday, March 19, 2016 one hour prior to the service.
