Wilma Newton Day

Mrs. Wilma Newton Day, formerly of Halifax, VA passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Kingsport, TN. She was born in Halifax County, VA on December 3, 1925 and was 89 years old. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Lorenza Newton and Georgia Snead Newton and was married to the late John Dalton Day. She was a member of Beth Car Baptist Church and worked at the Halifax Cleaners for 30 years. Survivors include: One son John Michael Day and wife Becky of Ewing, VA Three grandsons John Matthew Day and wife Kim of Tazewell, TN Zachary Austin Day and wife Jaque of New Market TN Robert Wallace Day of Johnson City, TN Three great grandchildren Emily, Allie, and Stella Day Cousin Frances Vaughan and husband Buck of Scottsburg, VA A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Rev. Al Marguerat officiating. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home for one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM.
