Mrs. Harriette Greenwood Dixon Compton of Halifax County passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter in Fort Mill, SC on November 18, 2015. She was born in Halifax County on May 5, 1919 and was 96 years old. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Pace Greenwood and the late Dot Divola Tune Greenwood. She was also married to the late Edward Luck Dixon and the late Beverly Lewis Compton. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, a Deacon, and WMU leader. She was choir director for many years. Mrs. Harriette Greenwood Dixon Compton is survived by: Five Daughters Kay Dixon Sevier and husband Joe of Tryon, NC Cynthia Dixon Cole and husband Jim of Hay Market, VA Mary Elizabeth Dixon Sutton and husband Bill of Shacklesfords, VA Sharon Sue Dixon McCandless and husband Richard of Fort Mill, SC Karen Dixon Henderson and husband Carter of South Boston, VA Eleven Grandchildren Leigh Baker (David), Amanda Boyd (Lee), Logan Sutton (Marissa), Ali Prescott (Robin), Kathryn Sutton, Jeb Cole (Deanna), Lisa Smith (Jay), Megan Vincent (James), Lauren Holcomb (Andy), Reid McCandless and Carter McCandless. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev Bill Wilkins and the Rev. Bill Greenwood officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Mt.
