He was the son of the late John Thomas Strickland and the late Mattie Layne Strickland. He was married to Darlene Martin Strickland. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and past owner/ operator of Halifax Exxon Service Center. Laurel, VA One Sister-in-law Diane Hudson of South Boston, VA ***Preceded in death by*** His Parents John Thomas Strickland and Mattie Lee Layne Strickland Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 2:00P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial to follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Bethel Baptist Church and other times at his home of 4040 Bethel Road, Halifax, VA.
