Gaylene Knight Hines, 82, died on Friday September 12, 2015 at Commonwealth Assisted Living in South Boston, Virginia. She was born in Raleigh, North Carolina and raised in Newport News, Virginia, and graduated from Warwick High School. Gaylene had a long and productive life as a devoted wife and mother as well as a bookkeeper for Singer Company and retail sales for 15 years as well as doing volunteer work during her early years. She devoted her later years as a caregiver to her mother and grandmother and later to her husband Fred; and enjoyed keeping up with her children and grandchildren's lives. She loved sewing, gardening, painting and crafting and baking for family and friends. Gaylene spent her remaining years living with her daughter, Susan and family enjoying the garden and country life in Halifax County, Virginia.
