Lillian Powell Smith

Mrs. Lillian Powell Smith of Scottsburg, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on April 1, 1931 and was 84 years old. She was the daughter of the late George Powell and Eva Bliss Powell and was married to the late Carl Stuart Smith. She was a member of Scottsburg Baptist Church. Survivors include: Two sons Larry C. Smith and wife Patricia of Scottsburg Van Smith and wife Sandra of South Boston Three grandchildren Holly Blackstock and husband Riley of Nathalie Stephanie Snead of South Boston Travis Snead and wife Brittany of Moneta Four great grandchildren Tyler, Tristin, and Bella Blackstock Jacie Snead Four sisters Dorothy Lacks of Halifax Mary Lee Smith of Scottsburg Margaret Canada of South Boston Elsie Owen of South Boston One brother Runt Powell of South Boston Also preceded in death by four sisters, Hallie Hackney, Pauline Hancock, Lena Canada, and Vena Watts and four brothers, Joe Powell, Dick Powell, Wilson Powell, and Royster Powell A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Scottsburg Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Smutz and Rev. Jack Stewart officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service with a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
