Mary Holt Seamster

Mary Holt Seamster, formerly of Nathalie, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at Autumn Care in Mechanicsville, VA. She was the daughter of the late Julian Robert Holt and the late Willie Maude Walker Holt. She was married to the late Charles Bass Seamster. Mary was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and loved to travel with her Charles. She also enjoyed a good game of Scrabble and rummy, and she always seemed to win! Another joy of Mary's was going to flea markets and negotiating for the best price. Survivors are her sons Clarence Seamster and wife Pat of Urbanna, VA; Gene Seamster and wife Susan of Chesterfield, VA; one stepson, Neely Seamster and wife Lorita of Waimanalo, Hawaii; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren in Virginia, seven step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren in Hawaii; one half sister, Margaret Fears of Halifax County; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Holt and Eugene Holt; one half sister, Myrtle Walker, and one step daughter, Betty Seamster Wooten. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Hunting Creek Baptist Church, 4055 Hunting Creek Road, Nathalie, VA 24577. The Reverends LeRoy Davis, Dib Mills, and Sean McGuire will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday evening, August 6, 2015 from 7:00 to 8:30, and the church fellowship hall immediately following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mary to the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department or Hunting Creek Baptist Church.
