Mrs. Jacquelyn Gooch Carter of South Boston, VA passed away Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born June 1, 1936 in Lancaster County, SC and was 79 years old. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Gooch and the late Mary Owen Gooch and was married to the late William Turner Carter. She was a member of the Ash Avenue Baptist Church, volunteer at the Halifax Regional Hospital, Red Cross and the Downtown Mission. Mrs. Jacquelyn Gooch Carter is survived by: One Son Timmy Carter and wife Cathy of South Boston One Daughter Patti Carter of South Boston One Grandchild Jennifer Carter Reaves and husband Lewis of Turbeville Two Great Grandchildren Hunter and Leyla Reaves of Turbeville One Brother Mike Gooch and wife Sandra of Fort Lawn, SC One Sister Frankie Cook and husband Gene of Pineville, NC Preceded in death by; one son, William Ronald Carter Two brothers, Ralph and Gene Gooch One sister, Annie Lee Sistrunk Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Hailey officiating. Burial will follow in the Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home, 511 Greenway Dr., South Boston, VA.
