Mr. Gilbert Fleming "Dick" Moore of Halifax, VA passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his home. He was born in Mecklenburg County, VA on August 9, 1936 and was 78 years old. He was the son of the late William Fleming "Willie" Moore and Eunice Carter Moore and was married to Rebecca Brown Moore who survives. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Pastor Parrish Committee. He was in his second term as Mayor of the Town ship of Halifax. At the onset of his illness, he was retired with Belk Department Stores and formerly was with Leggett until it was acquired by Belk. Prior to Leggett, he was the owner of Joseph Ney's Department Store. He was a member of Kiwanis Club and was co-chairman of PBS Auction in Roanoke and Harrisonburg. Survivors include: His wife Rebecca "Becky" Brown Moore of Halifax Two daughters Margaret Kate Moore of Chesterfield Paige Carter Moore and husband Clay Edward Huie of Waynesboro One son David Fleming Moore and wife Dr. Jennifer Michelle Donofrio of New Boston, NH Grandchildren David Gray Huie of Waynesboro Erica Angela Moore and Elena Emerson Moore of New Boston, NH One sister Ruth Moore Ashworth of Chase City One brother Watson David Moore of Mebane, NC Host of nieces and nephews A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29th at 2:00 PM at Main Street United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and other times at his home in Halifax.
