Elizabeth Stembridge (Betty Leigh) Leggett of South Boston passed away April 29, 2015. Born May 4, 1933 in Altavista, Virginia, she was the daughter of Evelyn Morgan Stembridge and Kenneth Gray Stembridge. Mrs. Leggett was a 1955 graduate of Westhampton College, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, the Berryman Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a charter member and past president of South Boston Garden Club. She enjoyed reading, traveling and was an avid movie enthusiast. Mrs. Leggett was a woman of grace, strength and beauty and was well-loved by her children and grandchildren. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She is survived by two sons, Thomas Coxe Leggett, Jr., and Kenneth Alexander Leggett, one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Leggett Moore (Leigh) and Ronnie Fisher Moore and five grandchildren, Kenneth Alexander Leggett, Jr., Andrew Thomas Leggett, Elizabeth Evelyn Leggett, Louis Leggett Moore and Sophie Elizabeth Moore (Liza). The family wishes to extend special thanks to Sentara Woodview, especially the staff on Magnolia Trail. They treated Mrs. Leggett with compassion, respect, kindness and dignity. The family will receive visitors Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 6-8 P. M. and other times, at the home of Leigh and Ronnie Moore, 1040 Brook Run, Halifax. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 2:00 P. M. at Main Street United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
