Claire Henderson Walton

Mrs. Claire Henderson Walton of South Boston, VA passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at the Sentara Woodview. She was born August 30, 1921 in Halifax County, VA and was 93 years old. She was the daughter of the late Edgar R. Henderson and the late Harriett Powell Henderson and was married to the late William Garrett (Jiggs) Walton for 61 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, South Boston and was retired from Halifax County Circuit Court in 1989 as deputy clerk. Mrs. Claire Henderson Walton is survived by: One Son William Garrett "Garry" Walton, Jr. and wife Sally of Cary, NC One Daughter Jane Walton Webb and husband Mark of Charlottesville, VA Two Grandsons Jonathan Walton of San Diego, CA Leigh Garrett Walton of New York City, NY She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the First Baptist Church, South Boston with the Rev. Susan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, April 10, 2015 from 7:00 until 8:30 P.M. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home, 2500 Halifax Rd., South Boston, VA 24592.
