Jack Maynard Neal, 81, of South Boston, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 31, 2015. He was a graduate of Clover High School, University of Richmond, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Jack was a retired social worker and business owner, a member of First Baptist Church, and he will be greatly missed. A gifted speaker and loving father, Jack will always be remembered for his unique and infectious sense of humor. Jack is survived by his wife Violet, his daughter Chrystal, his son Kevin and wife Tamara, daughter Amy and husband Neal Lovaas, and son John and wife Lindsey. And seven grandchildren: Connor, Tate, and Rachel Lifson, Cori and Calli Neal, Cole and Ellie Neal, and a baby boy Lovaas will be born in August. Jack is also survived by two sisters: Elsie Griles of Clover and Bettie Sue Neal of Lawrenceville, and a sister-in-law Tootsie Neal of Clover. He is preceded in death by his parents, Blanche and Tom Neal of Clover, four brothers: Walker, Bradley, Willie, and Carl, and a sister, Ruth Neal Morgan. The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, 1603 Wilborn Avenue, on Thursday, April 2 from 7-830 pm and other times at the home: 1406 Peach Avenue. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 3 at 2 pm at First Baptist Church, 815 North Main Street. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
