Mrs. Carol Moats Priest of Richmond, VA formerly of Halifax County, VA passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the HCR Manor Care in Richmond, VA. She was born July 15, 1918 in Clara, Montana and was 96 years old. She was the daughter of the late Emmette Moats and the late Mary Margaret Edzards Moats and was married to the late Royal Gilbert "Dilly" Priest She was a member of the Lakeside United Methodist Church and was retired accountant from the Virginia Department of Health after 22 years of service. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in Scottsburg and South Boston. Mrs. Carol Moats Priest is survived by: One Son Royal David Priest and wife Gerryann of Glen Allen, VA One Daughter Linda Loomis Priest Wallis and husband Ian of Holden Beach, NC Three Grandchildren Sean David Priest and wife Molly and their children, Alexa and Owen Todd William Priest and wife Sophie and their children, Solette and Lila Jason Royal Priest Four Step-Grandchildren Sally Anne Fotovat and husband Sam Paul Wallis and wife Vicky Sarah Jane Haboush and husband Billy Peter Wallis and wife Kung Fourteen Step-Great Grandchildren One Great-Great-Step-Grandchild Mrs. Priest was the youngest of four children and was preceded in death by: One brother, Melville Moats Two sisters, Stella Graybeal and Adalaine Christopherson Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bryant Wilborne officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Powell Funeral Home.
