Mary Elizabeth Alford Rogers

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Alford Rogers of South Boston passed away on Tuesday, February 24th 2015 at her home. She was born in Norfolk VA March 4 1939, and was 75 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Beckham Alford and Mary Christine Allsbrook Alford and was married to the late Melvin Eugene Rogers. She was a retired beautician and was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include One daughter Dawn Elizabeth Percival and husband Tim of South Boston One son Ricky Melvin Rogers and wife Penny of South Boston One sister Sylvia Edwards of Chesapeake. Three brothers John B. Alford of Littleton, N.C. Donald Alford of Suffolk VA Howard "Butch" Alford of Portsmouth Three Grandchildren Ashley Rose, Brynn Smith and John Hopkins Four great grandchildren Noah Smith, Camden Jones, Londyn Fallen and Jordan Best Numerous Nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-laws Proceeded in death by one brother Raymond Alford The services will be held at Powell funeral Home Chapel on Saturday February 28th at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev Don Bryant and Rev John Alford Officiating. The Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service and other times at 1085 Myers Rd, Halifax.
