Manuel Burton Lacks

Mr. Manuel Burton Lacks of JD Hagood Hwy, Scottsburg, VA passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on April 15, 1935 and was 79 years old. He was the son of the late Simuel L. Lacks and Bessie Myrtle L. Lacks and was married to the late Dorothy Beverley Lacks. He was a member of the Red Level Church and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include: one sister Dolly L. Owens and husband Leon of sterling, VA Four brothers Simuel Lacks Jr. of Randolph, VA Carlton E. Lacks and wife Linda of Poquoson, VA James L. Lacks and wife Glenda of Kenbridge, VA M. Travis Lacks of and wife Judy of Stuart, VA A sister-in-law Jean Lacks of Hurt Numerous Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Beverley Lacks, one sister, Alice L. Beverley, and one brother, Raleigh Lacks. A funeral service will be held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Greg Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Red Level Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 PM at Powell Funeral Home.
